Anyway, we started driving around 6, made it to Savannah and spent the night at Aimee and Adam\’s (the newlyweds!), and took them to breakfast in the morning before making the final two hour trek to the beach. When we got there, we ate some delicious oysters at The Salty Pelican…
and then checked into our hotel. It happened to be the 4th on the day we checked in, and our hotel was right in front of the harbor where the fireworks were going to be displayed, so we grabbed our beach chairs and some beers and got great seats for the show.
Despite the obnoxious family who decided to set up camp directly behind us, and having to hide our beers in the cooler for fear of Harbor Police (we weren\’t sure if it was legal or not…no one around us was drinking!), it was a great time.
This was followed by a beach day (which left us burnt in all the strangest places!), two trips to the local piano bar, some general bar hopping, and our first taste of escargot at a wonderful restaurant called Merge (if you\’re ever in the area, check it out!)
During the course of the trip, Hunter got whatever I had (which the doctor today confirmed was walking pneumonia), but I feel like it was worth it.
🙂
